Supporting Human Capital Development In Meghalaya (SHCDM)

Human capital development has been one of the top priorities of the Government of Meghalaya (GoM) with "education and skill development” as the cornerstone of development for enhancing people’s productivity and employability in the State. To achieve the objectives of quality and equitable human development, the Government of Meghalaya has been implementing the ‘Supporting Human Capital Development in Meghalaya (SHCDM)’ project with the support of Asian Development Bank (ADB).It intends to build awareness among Meghalaya’s youth about the benefits of education and vocational training

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY)

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) was established with the objective to develop employability skills in rural underprivileged youth and place them in jobs that will give them regular monthly wages or above the minimum wages. It is one of the key initiatives of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India that seeks to promote rural livelihoods. It is a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) - the Mission for poverty reduction called Aajeevika.

The scheme will strive to work with more than 55 million poor rural youth and develop their skills to be placed in sustainable employment. This scheme indirectly reduces poverty by promoting the Prime Minister's 'Make in India' campaign which offers employment to millions of individuals.

Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G)

Amalgamated Plantation is the emergent entity from divestment of the plantationbusiness of Tata Tea in East/North India. Multiple stakeholders include IFC, a part of the World Bank Group, the Tata Group, partner investors and employees including estate workers. The foundation looks after the corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities of the APPL and is primarily engaged with local communities in Assam in the areas of education and skill development, environment, healthcare, culture and heritage. SLIEM had undertaken the training mandate of providing livelihood skills in the job role of Assistant Electrician at Lataguri Neoranuddy Tea Estate.

Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission(DAY-NULM)

To reduce poverty and vulnerability of the urban poor households by enabling them to access gainful self employment and skilled wage employment opportunities, resulting in an appreciable improvement in their livelihoods on a sustainable basis, through building strong grassroots level institutions of the poor. The mission would aim at providing shelters equipped with essential services to the urban homeless in a phased manner. In addition, the mission would also address livelihood concerns of the urban street vendors by facilitating access to suitable spaces, institutional credit, social security and skills to the urban street vendors for accessing emerging market opportunities.

PMKVY RPL Type-3 in Construction Sector

  • The Government has already decided that 20% of the BOCW Cess funds would be utilized for skill development activities for construction workers and their family members.
  • A large number of construction workers have acquired some skills informally through their work experience. However, these workers still require some formal training in order to obtain a national recognized certificate which will also improve their mobility in labour markets, in addition to increase in productivity and better wages.
  • After in-depth consultation with the concerned expert agencies and construction industry, Ministry of Labour and Employment prepared a scheme for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) of construction workers.

Surya Mitra Projects Solar PV Installer (Suryamitra)

National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) is an Autonomous Institute of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Government of India to function as an Apex National Centre for research and technology development and related activities in the areas of Solar Energy Technologies in the Country,

  • Under the skill development initiatives of the MNRE, NISE is mandated as the nodal agency for implementation of Suryamitra Skill Development Programme (SSDP)
  • SSDP aims to develop the skills of youth, considering the opportunities for employment in the growing Solar Energy Power Projects installation, operation & maintenance in India and abroad.
  • At the end of the course, proper assessment shall be made and certificates shall be issued by Skill Council of Green Jobs.
