TATA METALIKS SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT Tata Metaliks Limited (TML) is one of India’s leading foundry grade pig iron and ductile iron pipes manufacturers. A subsidiary of Tata Steel, Tata Metaliks has its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant at Kharagpur, West Bengal, India which produces the finest quality of pig iron and ductile iron pipes in India. The plant’s annual hot metal production capacity is 500,000 tonnes out of which 200,000 tonnes is converted into Ductile Iron (DI) pipes and 300,000 tonnes into pig iron. TATA METALIKS SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE ,a part of Tata Metaliks limited’s CSR initiative in collaboration with Government of West Bengal is a state of the art skill development centre. This initiative will equip the underprivileged youth of the local community with skills that will enable them to earn a sustainable livelihood either through employment or as entrepreneurs..As the implementation partner SLIEM mobilizes trains ,certifies and places local youth to provide them with sustainable livelihood. Assessment is done by Assessment Agency as decided by respective Sector Skill Council. Besides training in state-of-the-art laboratories for various trades, all trainees will also be provided soft skills and basic computer training. TML believes that skill development is the key to India’s economic growth in the future as the country transforms itself into an internationally competitive economy.
