Teacher’s Day is a special day celebrated every year to honor the teachers and appreciate their special contributions towards education. In India Teachers Day is celebrated every year on 5th of September to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He served as the first Vice-President of India and also as its second President. He was a statesman, a distinguished scholar, but above all, a remarkable teacher. He was the first Indian to teach in the prestigious Oxford University.
Dr. Radhakrishnan was very popular among his students and was highly revered and respected. Hence Teachers Day is observed to celebrate the contributions of a teacher to the society and nation. The day is dedicated to the teachers by the students, who organize several events to entertain their teachers. Students give gifts to the teachers, sing song for them, felicitate them and do lots of similar things to show their love and respect.
Students of SLIEM skills from all the projects conjointly celebrated Teachers’ day with great enthusiasm on 5th September 2019. The day started with the Morning Assembly. Students had planned the day in such a manner that there was never a dull moment. All the teachers were invited to gather in the classroom for cake cutting ceremony. The Director, Mr. Debasish Majumder addressed all the teachers with his inspiring words. He thanked all the teachers for their diligence, sincerity and hard work. The teachers also shared their experience on training. The teachers were felicitated the teachers by presenting them with gifts and sweets. Later on, the students presented a lively cultural show to denote their love, respect, acknowledgement and recognition of the hard work put in by the teachers towards their development. The cultural show included poems, songs, dance and drama. The teachers and other employees enjoyed and appreciated the program. Program concluded with National Anthem sung by all.
On the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, as a mark of reverence the day of worship is marked not only by the engineering and architectural community but by artisans, craftsmen, mechanics, smiths, welders, industrial workers, factory workers and others.
At SLIEM Ltd Head Office, though the day started as any other working day, the puja was arranged by the students, who are budding engineers in Solar Energy, at their laboratory cum workshop which they decorated innovatively with different working tools. The faculties and other employees took part in the puspanjali and prayed for a better future, safe working conditions and, above all, success in their respective fields. The machines and the tools at the Solar Lab, Electrical Lab, Plumbing lab and Modern electronic servers at IT lab were also worshipped for their smooth functioning. Bhog was also arranged for all at the lunch time. The day ended in a happy note with blessings from Lord Vishwakarma. The puja was also held at other centres of SLIEM at different locations of West Bengal and Jharkhand.
